I made a series of lamps for my show in Bridge St Studios.

Each piece here incorporates an off-the-shelf pendant set with plug and switch (E27  LED and max 60W) but the glass “shade” can be fitted to other units with a 40mm diameter. 

An electrician would be recommended if the units are to be modified or hardwired.

Some of the pieces can have the bulbs placed down or up and many of them can be placed on different faces.

The lighter pieces can be hung as pendants. Swag hooks may be required. 

There are a few other unlit works within the 2 buildings. A large wall sculpture by the Roastery and some smaller more whimsical pieces dotted around in interesting places. If you are in Nelson do explore both sides of Bridge St Studios and have a coffee in Sublime.

Everything here is handmade and a one-off.

Most of my works contain some reclaimed materials. The glass will be a mixture of new and recovered glass. The normal characteristics of stained glass include indents, bubbles, roller marks and colour and texture variations. These add to the beauty and make the refracted images created even more intriguing.

I tend to do unique and different things with my materials. I have spent a lot of time and energy ensuring the final product will stand the test of time. Please note that glass is fragile (can break), the solder lines contain lead (keep away from very young children and wash your hands after handling). The glass can be wiped clean and a car polish like carnuba wax  or Pledge spray can be used to polish it up if necessary.

The first 2 lamps can be purchased from Common Threads in Bridge St Studios at any time. The rest can be purchased directly from me. If you want  to take a piece before the end of the show I can arrange  for it to be picked up from my studio or I could meet you in Bridge St Studios. Shipping would be at buyers’ expense but could be arranged.

Depending on size of bulb ( if installed on top) it can lay on any surface to create different forms. The bulb in the image is too large to lay it flat. There are a huge variety of decorative LED bulbs so the options are many! This piece is probably too heavy to hang as a pendant with this current lamp holder and cord, however it could possibly be re worked to hang.  However, it really does lend itself to sitting on and taking its place on a surface.
